Faith of our Forefathers Day part of Nine Months in York Town celebration

Two hundred twenty-five years ago, Philip Livingston, a representative from New York and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, died while serving in the Second Continental Congress in York Town. Zion United Church of Christ will re-enact the funeral of Philip Livingston on Sunday, June 15 at 10:30 am in a special service, "Faith of our Forefathers Day." Visitors are encouraged to wear Colonial attire and invited to enjoy refreshments after the free service. The church is located at 100 Lafayette Street, York. In June of 1778, the pastor of the German Reformed Church of York, a predecessor to Zion UCC, conducted the original funeral along with the Chaplain of Congress. Livingston's remains were buried behind the church building. "Nine Months in York Town" is a celebration of the Continental Congress' stay in York from September 1777 through June 1778. More information about Faith of our Forefathers Day and other upcoming events is available by logging on to www.yorkheritage.org and clicking on the Nine Months in York Town logo or by calling 848-1587.
