Musical Composition Created In Honor of Nine Months in York Town Celebration

Local composer Sy Brandon has set the preamble and first article from the Articles of Confederation to music as his contribution to the Nine Months in York Town celebration. The composition "Articles of Confederation" will be performed at the following events: June 7 - The York Chorus, which is celebrating its 65th anniversary, will sing it at their spring concert at 7:30 pm at York Little Theater, 21 S. Belmont Street, York. June 27 - The York Chorus will also perform it at the Nine Months in York Town Finale celebration at the Colonial Court House, W. Market and N. Pershing Ave., York, at 12:15 - 12: 30 pm. July 4 - The York Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will be performing the piece at the York Expo Center. - more - - Musical Composition page 2 of 2 - In addition to composing the piece for the Articles of Confederation, Brandon was commissioned by the York Symphony to write "Fanfares For A Festive Occasion" for the 250th anniversary of York County, and received first prize in WITF-FM's 25th Anniversary Composition Contest for his piece "Celebration Overture." "Nine Months in York Town" is a celebration of the Continental Congress' stay in York from September 1777 through June 1778.
