![]() Our Library & Archives is located on the first floor of the Trust's headquarters at 250 East Market St., York, PA. The collections include books and pamphlets, nearly 8,000 genealogical surname files, church records, photographs, manuscripts, newspapers, and microfilm. These materials are accessible to the public through various catalogs and indexes located in the reference area. Professional researchers, supported by trained volunteers, staff the Library & Archives. Lilia Fourhman-Shaull serves as Librarian & Archivist. The Library & Archives also offers a research service but does not participate in the Interlibrary Loan Network. The collections of the Library & Archives are continually supplemented through the generous gifts of patrons, the support of the South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, and the purchase of new materials in accordance with collecting policies. The Library & Archives accepts material relating to York County, the contiguous areas of Pennsylvania and Maryland, the westward expansion, immigration and emigration, and Pennsylvania history. It also collects other reference material pertaining to the Trust's collections of three-dimensional artifacts including decorative and folk arts, industry, agriculture, clothing, architecture, and lifestyles. All materials in the collections of the Library & Archives are available for reasonable use. The Trust reserves the right to restrict handling and copying of fragile items. Patrons are encouraged to visit and make use of the resources in genealogy, regional history, or other pertinent areas. Library & Archives hours are from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday. The Library & Archives is closed Sunday, Monday, and major holidays. York County Heritage Trust members may use our library without charge; otherwise, the cost is $6 per day. This $6 fee will also give you admission to our Historical Society Museum and Agricultural and Industrial Museum for the day. |
