The Junior Docent Program is open to high school students who have completed the 10th grade. Junior Docents receive training and valuable lessons in self-confidence and public speaking skills by participating as interpreters at the Trust's Colonial Complex and assisting with daily site operation. The program offers a unique opportunity to learn about museums and the public history field. Participation includes special field trips to historic and heritage sites and related activities. In addition, Junior Docents are invited and encouraged to attend special Living History events as well as some non-event Saturdays, held outside of these months. Junior Docents are provided the necessary clothing and accessories in order to participate in the program. Currently the Trust’s Junior Docent Program operates during the traditional summer vacation months, usually June through August. Please note that this is a competitive program with limited space available. The Junior Docent Program is sponsored by the York County Heritage Trust's Auxiliary.
