Museums & Historic Sites

The York County Heritage Trust inspires the exploration of the history, people and culture of our county, state and nation.
As a non-profit organization it utilizes collections, historic sites and museums to help tell the American story.
February 18 - Black Soldier, White Army
To commemorate National Black History Month, the York County Heritage Trust will host a lecture by Dr. William M. Hammond, Senior Lecturer at the University of Maryland, and co-author of the book Black Soldier, White Army: The 24th Infantry Regiment in Korea. The book chronicles the 24th Infantry Regiment, the last segregated infantry regiment in the U.S. Army, as well as the experiences of Leon Gilbert, a York County native who commanded the unit in Korea.
