Due to the large volume of requests received, we offer a research by mail service to individuals over 100 miles away. This program enables us to answer limited reference requests for a moderate fee. Each request is limited to one name (of an individual)/event/subject. Upon receipt of payment and requested individual information, we will search all of the following:

1. Vital statistic cards (consisting mainly of church records).
2. Pre-1800 random year tax abstractions for York County (Prior to 1800 Adams  County was part of York County.)
3. York County in the Revolution by Young/Pa. Civil War Volunteers by Bates
4. Marriage index to York County newspapers 1783-1909
5. Death index to York County newspapers 1783-1909
6. YCHT Genealogical reports (limited number of surnames; cut off date of 1850).
7. Cemetery cards for York and Adams counties (1930’s tombstone abstractions)
8. Appropriate family file.
9. Will and Orphan's Court abstracts 1749-1850.
10. Manuscript collection index.
11. Indices to published York County histories.
12. All other sources, which seem appropriate.

Details provided on the subject of your search will enhance our searching capabilities. In general, we do not locate living relatives, trace the history of a property or search the federal census. We also do not copy entire family collections. We will provide a list of professional researchers upon request. The fee for each search is $50.00 (U.S.) or $35.00 (U.S.) for members of the York County Heritage Trust. This fee is payable in advance and non-refundable regardless the outcome of the search. This covers research time and up to fifteen (15) copies. Additional photocopies are $.50 each (will be limited to 20 extra copies).
