Annual Support is Vital to Keep the Quality of Place the YCHT Provides
The York County Heritage Trust (YCHT) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that lives on the generous contributions from individuals, grants and foundations. Our ability to provide the quality programming, library and archives services and exhibits is due directly to community support. While we represent the entire county, the YCHT does not currently receive annual line item funding directly from the county, city or state. Therefore your support is incredibly important to us.
What does the YCHT bring to the community?
What is one of the most striking images when driving into downtown York? The Colonial Court House? The Golden Plough Tavern and the General Horatio Gates House? Besides being eye catching buildings, they represent the nationally significant history that occurred in 1777 and 1778 in York County. John Adams, John Hancock, George Washington, James Smith and numerous other founding fathers visited, lived and worked here. How many communities across the country can make that claim? The YCHT honors, preserves and presents these events to the community through hands-on programs, substantial services and interactive living history events. These events are just a small sampling of York County’s considerable history.
Whether the time period is Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War II or somewhere in between, the YCHT uses collections, historic buildings and substantial holdings in the library and archives to educate students of all ages about history. We deliver unique and engaging programming to all county residents. Our goal is to provide everyone the opportunity to experience history through exciting and engaging methods that resonate and inspire students to explore more.
So what do we bring to the community? We offer quality of place in York County that instills pride in our collective history and heritage. We create opportunities to learn about these events through high caliber programs and services. Ultimately, our ability to be successful is directly tied to your support. You play a vital role in making history accessible for everyone by participating in the YCHT Annual Fund. Please consider a contribution to our Annual Fund today.
